Maintenance, Upkeep, and Care Guidelines
Wheelchair & Tri-cycle
Clean movable parts regularly.
Lubricate axles and crossbars frequently for smooth movement.
Clean leather and metal parts thoroughly and mop with a clean cloth.
Check and grease wheel bearings at least once a year.
Repair or replace damaged tyres and tubes immediately.
If any parts such as bolts or nuts are damaged or lost, or if mechanical issues arise, get them checked at a Kshatipurti service centre or a qualified cycle repair shop.
Hearing Aid
Keep in a cool, dry place.
Protect from water and other liquids.
Remove the battery when not in use.
Keep away from fire, heat sources, vehicles, and electrical appliances.
Protect from dust, sun, rain, cosmetic powder, and hair oil.
Do not twist or knot the cord.
Store safely in a pocket designed for it.
Always switch off when not in use.
Detach the ear tip and wash with soap water frequently to prevent wax build-up.
Clean with a dry cloth only to maintain function.
Prosthesis
Artificial Hands
Wash stump daily with antiseptic soap and warm water before bed.
Clean the inside of the socket daily with mild soap and warm water.
Wash stump socks daily; avoid wrinkles to prevent skin ulceration.
Apply antifungal or antibacterial powder in the socket before wearing.
Examine the stump daily for pressure marks or ulceration; report to your doctor or Kshatipurti prosthetist immediately.
If swelling occurs, wrap with a crape bandage; if it persists, consult your doctor or prosthetist.
Perform stump exercises daily to maintain strength and mobility.
Store prosthesis in a dry and safe place when not in use.
Artificial Legs
Get any broken parts repaired or replaced immediately at the nearest Kshatipurti service centre or authorised technician.
Avoid use in cases of diabetes, sensory impairment, skin infections, or heart ailments without consulting your doctor or Kshatipurti prosthetist.
Avoid accident-prone or risky sites to ensure safety.
Orthosis / Caliper
Ensure suspension cuffs/bands are in good condition and metal joints are not loose before wearing.
Oil the joints of calipers at least once a week.
Keep the appliance and shoes neat and clean.
Replace worn-off shoe heels promptly.
If any component breaks, get it repaired or replaced immediately at your nearest Kshatipurti service centre or authorised technician.
For growing children, visit every three months to adjust fittings for comfort and safety.
Avoid wetting the appliance.
Store in a dry and safe place when not in use.
Check your skin daily for any pressure marks or ulceration and consult your doctor or Kshatipurti prosthetist & orthotist if found.
Check all screws, nuts, and bolts daily.
